Dee Huxter - The Ladies of Tarkay

Dee Huxster, a local artist of Stroudsburg, PA. has long enjoyed painting local homes and Main Street buildings. Her real interest was to be a fashion illustrator. A few years ago she realized after painting with Tom Vincent, that her real love was to paint women, particularly in costume.

Dee was inspired by artists of the past, particularly Joseph Waterhouse, John James Singer, Degas, and Tarkay.

Her work is in numerous private collections, as well as the permanent collection at the Monroe County Courthouse, the Hughes Library, and the Fenner Snyder Robacker Museum. Her work has also gone abroad.

Awards include several in the Pocono Arts Council and C.O.T.A. shows.

Though largely self-taught, she has attended Warren County College and the Entwistle School of Art, Ridgewood, NJ, as well as many workshops through the years.

Lurene Nakielny
Painting

An artist for the past fifteen years, Lurene never stops learning. For formal training, she is a student of the Arts Students League of New York, takes classes at Marywood University, and participates in workshops taught by nationally recognized and local artists.

“What inspires my work the most is people,” the artist says, noting she loves to paint figures and portraits, something she mastered at the Arts Student League. “Some of the finest artists in the country teach at the league. I feel very privileged to be able to attend classes there.”

Lurene is a member of both the Pocono and Stroudsburg arts councils. In 2008, one of her oil paintings received first place at the Stroudsmoor art show.
